Imagine a night of marvelous music, delicious dance, tempting theater, vibrant visual art, and creative cuisine. Your journey of discovery begins in the ARTS by George! tent, where you will be greeted by an Arts Management student ambassador who will provide you with information to plan an evening of your own tastes with the opportunity to experience Mason’s best in art, dance, music, theater, computer game design, and film and video studies. As your route enfolds, you will enjoy brief, engaging presentations by talented Mason students and faculty in a variety of “behind-the-scenes” studio environments in the recently expanded de Laski Performing Arts Building and Harris Theater. You will also pass through our unique arts-related silent auction where you will have the opportunity to bid on an array of experiences and items. Along the way, you will find sumptuous food stations, plentiful bars and the centrally located ARTS by George! tent, where guests can gather and enjoy more exciting cuisine and beverage throughout the evening.
After you have savored the remarkable talent of the Arts at Mason – and feasted well – you will arrive at the Center for the Arts Concert Hall. There, you will be ushered to premium seats for the 8 P.M. performance featuring two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster. This luminous ingénue presents an unforgettable evening of Broadway showstoppers and tender cabaret-style ballads that showcase her powerful soprano, fantastic footwork, and dazzling acting chops. Actress, singer, and dancer Sutton Foster has drawn comparisons to Ethel Merman, Barbra Streisand, and Julia Roberts for her Tony Award-winning roles on Broadway as evangelist-turned-nightclub singer Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes and her breakout performance in Thoroughly Modern Millie, as well as roles in Little Women, The Drowsy Chaperone, Young Frankenstein, and Shrek the Musical. Don’t miss this incredible vocal powerhouse that has taken the musical theater world by storm! “Ms. Foster has the voice of a trumpet and a big, gleaming presence that floods the house.” (The New York Times)
After the concert, you will join the artist on the Concert Hall stage for an elegant champagne and dessert reception.
ARTS by George! salutes the many generous sponsors who continue to make this event a success. We applaud the talented students and faculty for their dedication and enthusiasm. We give a standing ovation to the hard-working volunteers for their tireless devotion.
We know you will have an extraordinary evening!
