BOSTON (WHDH) – Lady Gaga's avant-garde fashion has been turning red carpets for years, thanks in part to a Boston shoe designer.
Thom Solo is the singer, songwriter and key player in chic footwear.
At 28, Solo knows the power of social media and has used it to give the superstar a reason to watch it.
"I looked at Instagram for beginner stylists and I liked every photo I could and I tried to get his attention," he said. "An hour later, I received an email stating that Gaga had asked for several pairs of shoes."
This was the first of many steps to propel the Newtonian student of art student to the designer and now to a celebrity craftsman.
"The power of belief and pursuit is really something to say," said Solo.
At the university, Solo began carving and started his own business at 19. He turned to local shoemakers for help in turning his art into something portable.

He now creates his creations in the South End of Boston and manufactures them in London.
His shoes are made to measure and his clients are well known in the world of the pop star.
"Ciarra stylist, Madonna stylist, Lady Gaga stylist, Nicki Minaj stylist all said:" When can we get this shoe? Solo said, pointing to a drawing of one of his creations.
Ten-inch heels may not be practical for everyday women, but Solo says they're adding padding to the heels and toes to make them more comfortable.
The shoes start at $ 2,000, but Mr. Solo hopes to soon create an average luxury line so more women can channel their inner Gaga.
"We are designing for a woman who wants to have a moment," he said. "And I think every woman wants to have a moment and deserves to have a moment every day."(Copyright (c) Sunbeam Television 2019. All Rights Reserved This document may not be published, disseminated, rewritten or redistributed.)
