In ‘The Story of Us,’ Morgan Freeman explores the human condition

(RNS)  — Morgan Freeman wanted to understand how people who have lived through genocide can make peace.

It was last May in Rwanda, when the Academy Award-winning actor visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, which commemorates the brutal civil war between the Tutsi and Hutu ethnic groups.

Sitting across from him were a Tutsi woman who lost her family and the Hutu man who had killed them as part of a genocide that left around 800,000 people dead.
