Netflix Scores Clive Owen, Amanda Seyfried Thriller ‘Anon’ for $4 Million

Netflix has acquired U.S. and some international rights to Andrew Niccol’s sci-fi thriller “Anon” for a price in the $4 million range, TheWrap has learned.

The film stars Clive Owen as an investigator looking to solve a series of crimes in a future world with no privacy or anonymity and Amanda Seyfried as a young woman who has apparently beat the system and vanished.

Niccol produced the film with Oliver Simon and Daniel Baur at K5 Film and K5 Media Group handled the financing. CAA arranged the film’s funding and negotiated the domestic deal, while Sierra/Affinity was in charge of international sales.

CAA screened “Anon” last Thursday in Toronto, before the Toronto International Film Festival officially got underway. It was the first year of the agency’s pre-screening venture, which also resulted in the $4 million sale of Keanu Reeves-headlined “Replicas” to Entertainment Studios.

“Anon” is the latest film acquired by the streaming giant, which continues to cast an outsize shadow on film festivals with its prodigious bag of cash. Netflix shelled out $4 million for “Kodachrome,” starring Ed Harris, and more than $3 million for documentary “Jim and Andy: The Great Beyond.”

The streaming service also premiered Angelina Jolie’s “First They Killed My Father” at the festival.

Amanda Seyfried on Strut Your Mutt, Motherhood and Kittens

Kittens, they grow up so fast.

New mom Amanda Seyfried is going through some growing pains with the kittens she and husband Thomas Sadoski are fostering.

The couple recently took in a litter of kittens and their mom from Best Friends Animal Society and are caring for the furry crew until the little ones are old enough to be adopted. Seyfried, 31, can’t help but notice a similarity between her own life and that of the mother cat she is looking after.

“It’s such a truncated version of what I’ve gone through with my daughter,” she told PEOPLE about the bittersweet process of watching the kittens’ progress so far. “They grow up so fast.”

While watching the adorable kittens get big fast can be hard, she is amazed by the mom cat, who she described as a “natural” and is pleased to know that by fostering this litter, she and Sadoski are making room in the shelter for other needy animals.

Before the kittens and her own baby, Seyfried honed her maternal instincts with her rescue dog Finn.

“If I could, I would have him everywhere I go, he mostly is everywhere I go,” the actress said about the role her dog, who often makes an appearance on her Instagram, plays in her day-to-day life.

It has gotten to the point that when fans spot Seyfried on the street without Finn “they ask where he is.”

All of this is going to make an upcoming trip to Europe especially difficult.

“I am going to be away from Finn for six weeks. I have only done it once before,” Seyfried said, concerned over what it will be like to spend so much time apart from her furry other half.

Before her departure, Seyfried is fitting in plenty of quality time with Finn, which includes promoting Best Friends Animal Society’s Strut Your Mutt, an annual charity dog walk that travels to 14 different cities.

“This was one of the first things we got to do together to help animals,” said Seyfried on why the event is important to her and Finn. “Strut Your Mutt is like a holiday for us.”

Strut Your Mutt, which Seyfried also calls “heaven on Earth,” invites all dog owners and animal lovers to walk among hundreds of dogs to help raise money for Best Friends or one of the hundreds of other animals rescues, charities and shelters that also support the event.

“Getting pets and their people together to celebrate and raise money — it’s a good event and it’s really positive,” Seyfried said.

Amanda Seyfried, Thomas Sadoski Fostering a ‘Basket of Kittens’

The purr-fect addition! Amanda Seyfried and her husband, Thomas Sadoski, announced their plans to foster a litter of kittens from a Los Angeles shelter via Instagram on Tuesday, September 5.

Match These Pets to Their Famous Owners

“We’re fostering this basket of kittens along with their momma until they’re ready for their forever homes,” the 31-year-old Mean Girls actress wrote alongside an adorable snap of herself and the Newsroom alum, 41, smiling ear-to-ear.

“There are a lot of kittens in the LA area who need the same care! @bfas_la delivers the kittens and everything you need to keep them safe and you supply the love!” she continued. “We’re so close to making LA a NO KILL city.” (Seyfried is already mom to her 7-year-old Australian shepherd, Fin.)

This is not the first time the Dear John actress has supported pet rescue and adoption. In June, Seyfried took to Instagram to share her support for a landmark bill that would prohibit pet stores from selling dogs, cats and rabbits unless they come from rescue groups or shelters.

Can You Identify the Voices Behind TV and Movie Pets?

“#wayback 🌞🐾📢ATTENTION California is poised to make history! The state legislature is considering a landmark bill that would prohibit pet stores from selling dogs, cats and rabbits unless they come from shelters or rescue groups. You can help put an end to the suffering of countless animals in substandard breeding facilities and reduce killing in our shelters by taking action today. Urge your representatives to vote YES on Assembly Bill 485 through @bestfriendsanimalsociety’s action alert via the link in the bio,” she wrote at the time.

The kittens aren’t their only recent addition. As previously reported, Seyfried and Sadoski, who eloped in March, welcomed a baby girl that same month.

Amal Clooney, Amanda Seyfried Flaunt Post-Baby Style In Venice

Hot mamma alert! Amal Clooney and Amanda Seyfried gave Us a double-dose of high octane glamour at 2017 Venice Film Festival. The human rights attorney and actress welcomed twins and a baby girl this year, respectively, but mommyhood isn’t putting a damper on their style — if anything, they’ve kicked things up a notch with gorgeous sheer gowns and eccentric embellishments.

See Every Product In Too Faced Cosmetics’ Two Rad Launches

Clooney, 39, is known for her quirky and feminine aesthetic, but since giving birth she has ventured into sexier styles — and her frock from her latest appearance is a perfect combination of her old vibe paired with her new one. This week, the new mom stepped out for dinner at the Hotel Danielle with her hubby George Clooney in an Ermanno Scervino minidress that was covered in cascading sheer polka dot tulle layered over a strapless black bodice. In other words? Clooney may have just reinvented lingerie-dressing. She also paired the sultry yet ultra-girly dress with a pair of satin slingback navy blue pumps, which Stylish is anticipating as a huge trend for fall.

About Last Night: See What the Stars Wore

To finish the look, Clooney swept back her thick, wavy raven locks into a half-up hairstyle and rocked a muted cranberry red lip, which was reportedly Charlotte Tilbury’s new Hollywood Lips liquid lipstick in the shade Screen Siren.

As for Seyfried, 31, the new mother and actress stunned at the premiere of First Reformed in a folksy black lace Alexander McQueen midi-length gown with a handkerchief hem and floral crystal embroideries. The lace dress served all of the vava-voom heat, while avoiding the nearly nude look. Seyfried paired the ensemble with next level Chopard drop earrings that featured 20.16-carats of amethysts, 22-carats of topaz and 3-carats of blue sapphires set in 18k white gold.

To finish her look, the Mean Girls star rocked a glamorous red lip courtesy of makeup artist Mary Greenwell and a textured ponytail styled by Giannandrea.

Clearly, Clooney and Seyfried are on the same page about sheer embellishments and asymmetrical hemlines — and we are into it!

Downsizing sees Damon plays an unhappy every day man who tries to solve his problems – and help save the planet – by undergoing an experimental procedure that shrinks him to 5 inches tall.

The Venice Film Festival is kicking off the Autumn cinema season with drama, glamour and a crop of new movies vying for attention, awards and acclaim.
